Jatt Life Lime Zest Vodka

Jatt Life Lime Zest Vodka is the latest release from the Jatt Life company which produces ultra premium spirits and is more of a lifestyle than a distillery.

The Jatt Life company was founded by vodka enthusiasts who were on holiday in Dubai together and felt that there were no exciting new spirits for them to discover, so they decided to make their own.

They describe themselves as an ‘ultra premium, aspirational drinks brand’ rather than a distillery, which is not usually the kind of approach I like. I prefer reading about distilleries that grew out of someone making gin in their garage, or who set up business in a former welding shop, but as with everything to do with spirits, what matters is what’s in the bottle.

And it is certainly a classy and stylish bottle, which definitely sells the idea of being ultra premium and aspirational. The original vodka bottle with which they launched the company is black, white, and gold. This Lime Zest version uses a black and green design, with a little bit of white lettering, and is definitely a bottle that’s a keeper, even when it’s been emptied. They look so good on the shelves.

Other Jatt Life Spirits

As well as their original vodka and this Lime Zest Vodka, Jatt Life has several other spirit offerings. They produce a whiskey, a raspberry and peach flavoured gin, and two other vodkas: Orange and Pineapple, and Forest Fruits. They also do a neat line in merchandise, and I can confirm that their lime zest car air freshener works a treat!

Making Jatt Life Lime Zest Vodka

Jatt Life are a little light on detail when it comes to describing how and where their spirits are made. This Lime Zest Vodka is based on their original vodka, which is described as a French grain spirit that is distilled five times. I’m curious to know which grain is used and is it distilled in France or elsewhere? Wherever it is distilled, it is bottled at 37.5% ABV (75 proof), compared to the original vodka’s 40% ABV (80 proof).

Tasting Jatt Life Lime Zest Vodka

The proof of the pudding is in the tasting – and in the case of spirits, in the nosing as well. This Jatt Life Lime Zest Vodka certainly does what it says on the tin, in both departments. On the nose it’s a very refreshing lime zest aroma, that’s clean and pleasing.

Sipping it, the same applies. It’s smooth enough to sip neat, with quite an intense lime zest flavour. This is good because when you mix it with a quality tonic, like Fever Tree, the lime zest steps back a little and you have an easy and delicious limey Vodka and Tonic. We prefer both our Vodka and Tonics and Gin and Tonics with lime rather than lemon, so this is the ideal vodka to have on hand when you’re feeling lazy!
