Visiting Rock Rose Distillery
Travel Distilled tells you what you all about visiting Rock Rose Distillery, though officially it’s the Dunnet Bay Distillery on the north coast of Scotland.

Dunnet Bay Distillery, home to Rock Rose Gin and Holy Grass Vodka, is a family-owned craft distillery located in the far north of Scotland, near the village of Dunnet in Caithness. Established in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Martin and Claire Murray, the distillery is renowned for its small-batch, handcrafted spirits that capture the essence of the rugged Highland landscape.

The gin’s name, Rock Rose, is inspired by a rare wildflower that grows in the region, symbolizing the connection between the spirits and their natural surroundings.
Where is the Rock Rose Distillery?

The Dunnet Bay Rock Rose Distillery is in the village of Dunnet in the very north of Scotland, only a fifteen-minute drive west of John o’Groats. They are three miles from Dunnet Head, the northernmost point on mainland Britain.
If you fancy a visit and want to stay over, it’s right next door to the Northern Sands Hotel – no need to worry about drinking and driving!
History

The Murrays founded Dunnet Bay Distillery with a passion for creating high-quality, locally inspired spirits. They transformed a former joinery workshop into a state-of-the-art distillery, combining traditional techniques with modern innovation.
Rock Rose Gin, their flagship product, quickly gained acclaim for its unique botanical blend, which includes locally foraged ingredients like sea buckthorn and rhodiola rosea, alongside traditional botanicals such as juniper and coriander.
Holy Grass Vodka, their second offering, is named after a fragrant grass found in the nearby dunes and is celebrated for its smooth, distinctive flavor.
