The distillery was built to meet the growing demand for Dewar’s whisky and to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality single malt for their blends. Designed by renowned distillery architect Charles Doig, Aberfeldy was strategically located near the Pitilie Burn, a water source known for its purity and mineral-rich qualities, which contribute to the whisky’s distinctive flavor.
Over the years, Aberfeldy has maintained its traditional production methods while embracing modern innovations. The distillery’s four copper pot stills and wooden washbacks are still in use today, preserving the craftsmanship that has defined Aberfeldy for over a century. In 1998, Aberfeldy launched its first official single malt bottling, cementing its reputation as a standalone brand.
Visiting Aberfeldy
